DC mod chip?
Jeffrey - Nov 28, 2003

The geeks in Hong Kong are selling a "modded DC" for USD$99.

I don't get it. Unlike the Saturn, my US version of DC plays CDRs and presumeably foreign games out of the box with no mod.

What is the MOD chip for in a DC?

No need for boot disc to play authentic import titles?

Yeah, the only existing DC chip removes country protection for GDROM media games. All pirate releases don't need modchip. It's very different from PSX or Saturn

but so far I've been able to play all CDRs, foreign and domestic, without a MOD chip...

So what does it do? Why would I need one?

The chip enable original GDROM from other regions than yours to be played. If your´re going to play only cdr games or originals from you region then no need for a chip.

It's so you can play imported ORIGINAL GD-ROMs.

Edit: And isn't this whole thread like destroying the forum's rules?
