I've been thinking about this for some time.. I haven't done a "deep" search but I can't find any detailed instructions...

I would need some sort of software... would PSXPad... work?

If yes... what about the pinout configuration?

oops i've just checked that site better and found some pinout schematics

There's a driver included in the Linux kernel, there's some schematics in the documentation as well. I don't know if drivers exist for other OSes.

I'm fairly sure directpad.... and ntpad both have support for it.

You need to build the Direct Pad interface and use the NTPADXP driver (assuming XP/2K). If you can find a dead Saturn, you can even use the real joypad port connectors in the interface.

The one I built works great.
