where can i get a good codec pack that basically includes every codec i'd ever need to watch video files in media player. i have an old movie file that worked in the past before my computer died and now i can't get it to play it's odd it's an .avi file.

The gordian knot pack that doom9.net distributes is pretty good.

I use the videolan (vlc) player, it plays most everything I throw at it without needing me to install codecs, and it streams over the network like a bad ass.

I use the k-lite mega codec pack, plays everything I've thrown at it so far.

I use the CCCP, it's packaged with MPC and the free version of Zoom Player, both of which I like better than windows media player
