Castlevania Series
Malakai - Nov 16, 2005

So much change comes from 2d to 3D, but I really don't like what they've done with castlevania since the N64 version. Recently, I played a demo of curse of darkness, for the ps2, and even though it's not a bad game, it does not have a castlevania feel to it. There is virtually no adventure feel to it. This is about the console versions, not handhelds.

I still think that castlevania could have a lot of potential as a game that plays in 2D, yet has 3d backgrounds, interactions, etc.

In my opinion, Castlevania hasn't been Castlevania since SOTN came out. It's a good game, but challenge and gameplay-wise it has nothing on the older 'vanias. Give me CV1, 3, Rondo, Bloodlines, etc. Over the Metroidvanias (and this 3d crap) any day.

Yeah Dawn of Sorrow is supposed to rock.

But Konami really needs to keep the series in 2D. I really can picture it even being quite as god in 3D.

I'm gonna say average. I don't care for the 3D ones (N64 or PS2). However, I realy enjoy the "Metroidvania" game on the GBA/DS.
