AVI Format & *.idx,*.sub subtitles...

Hello.

I got a Japanese Anime in *.avi format (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind ā Wariors of The Wind) & it also came with an *.idx & a *.sub file, which I presume must be the English subtitles.

They have the following file names:

Warriors of the Wind 1984.avi

Warriors of the Wind 1984.idx

Warriors of the Wind 1984.sub

I played the *.avi file in WinXp Media Player 10 but I couldnāt get the subtitles working.

How can I enable the subtitles in WinXP Media Player 10 or what other media program will I need that supports these file types?

Thanks in advance.

I believe Vobsub is what you need, but I'm no expert. *shrug*

Media Player Classic with Matroska Playback Pack is better than Windows Media Player 10 IMO. On my machine, Windows Media Player 10 refuses to play and crashes everytime I try to play an .avi with a respective .idx and .sub file of the same file name. Rename the .idx and .sub files so the file names are different than the .avi file and the video plays fine but without subtitles. :looney
