Almost Modded

Yoza's,

I have a model 2 - (round buttons - 64 pin IC on CD borad and 21 pin cable) and have stuck my mod board (standard v1 board) in as per instructions and other threads.

My machine now boots up to the cd player screen - if I put in an original CD I can 'start application' and it plays fine.

When I insert a CDR it will check disc format and then say 'unsuitable for system' - thinking it was a region thing I patched the image and still get the same error. I burnt something else with supposedly the correct region and that also says the same. I have also tried better media but still get the same message.

I will try checking power supply level and bridge to 0019 tonight but just wanted to know if anyone else experienced similar before I either buy another Saturn or try a V2 mod.

Cheers for any replies.

Which thread are you speaking of for instructions?

There is more than one

I read all the posts I could - I also read the massive 64 pin A+B method thread which goes on for ages.

Other people had similar issues near the end but non indicated if they'd fixed them or given up.

It just feels I'm very close to getting it sorted.

It may be that your system is just simply not modable with the current stock of chips that are available. The last place that I know of that sold chips that worked reliably in 64 pin saturns was Game Gizmo and I belive that they no longer exist.

I myself have tried modding a 64 pin system and got to the point where the system would only boot originals and or sometimes only recognize everything as an audio CD but would never boot backups.

You are right - I'm gonna get a 32 pin Saturn and also getting a supposed 64 pin mod to try in this machine.

Man, my Xbox was much less painful to do in comparison.
