3DO and Jaguar questions..

Is it possible to play backups on either of these systems without modding the console?

I noticed a thread about 3DO CD-R's being sold on promos on e-bay, I was wondering if someone could clarify on whether CD-R's can play on a 3DO, as well as the Jaguar's CD expansion being able to play CD-R's? I read this on wikipedia..

Jaguar CD games could include as much as 790MB of data, considerably more than conventional CD-ROMs.

I probably won't be getting one because I'll be spending so much money for only a handful of Jaguar CD games. So back to 3DO..is it possible without modding?

Thanks.

The 3DO has no protection against CD-Rs per se, but certain units (the Goldstar ones in particular) have trouble reading CD-Rs and will only read certain brands.

The Jag CD unit has some pretty hardcore protection, IIRC. I don't believe it's ever been broken.
