Can you be more specific?

Hi @TrekkiesUnite118..., one question: Will the patch work on the actual hardware or only on PC emulation?
Thanks!

Yes you can play this on your Saturn. Other people on this thread have been testing on actual hardware.

I've used it on my Sega Saturn, works fine

Just a quick, somewhat unrelated, question.

Would the project of decensoring the HD Remaster (PC) also find a home here?
I kind of jumped the gun a bit. Did some (obviously not enough) testing by editing one of the files containing the games text and it all worked (somehow). So I went through the game and through the text files, collecting samples of what I knew was censored or what I suspected to be (also some typos). Then I had someone translate it. But after editing the files the game will softlock when displaying text sooner or later.

I guess some hex editing or something is required, but I don't have the skills to do this. So if there's interest I can at least provide a corrected translation. There are very likely things that flew under my radar, but at least nobody will drink coffee until you get to Zil Padon.
And in the end you could also add those changes to the Saturn version.

I attached a sample of the HD Remasters language files.

I was going to look into that at some point, but there's a few more pressing matters I want to get sorted out first. I've just been busy helping out with the Sakura Wars translation at the moment. The tools I made can do the bulk of the work in converting PS1 script data to the Saturn format, there's just some areas where control codes are different which is what causes those crashes.

so I have an update on this whole situation. I ended up getting a refurbished/recapped saturn because I wasnt up for recapping my saturn. Every thing works fine now even with pseudo saturn kai. Not sure what the actual problem was but it was definitely an issue with my original saturn.

Curious, does anybody else experience FMVs being cut short and ending prematurely?

This is usually a burn issue. A bad burn due to either a bad rip, burning at the wrong speed, poor quality media, etc. tends to result in more missed reads, which isn't good for something streaming.

Thank you very much for your reply, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your hard work with this translation project.

I will say that my MD5 checksums are identical to the ones included in your readme/tutorial. I cannot say for sure that my burn media isn’t to blame, but I will say that I have been burning Saturn discs for years from the same multi-pack of 100-disc spindles without issue. However, it’s worth noting that I burned this particular disc with my laptop’s CDRW drive, the burn speed minimum of which is 10x.

I will try burning it again on another box using a lower speed. I’ll also look into obtaining some different CDRs based on the brand recommendations in your readme file.

Submitting a bug/issue report...

Disc: 1

Location: Ghost Ship, Mid-Deck

Scenario: After defeating the second enemy on the Mid Deck, the game freezes. The final blow will be dealt to the enemy, but after they die, you're left with Justin, Sue, and Feena standing there while the battle music plays. The celebration animation is never played for any of the characters and the game never proceeds to the screens showing money/items/experience earned. The game disc continues to spin and the game is even responsive to the L/R trigger buttons toggling the name display for each character. I have left the game running for +1 hour to see if it would eventually progress, but it does not.

Reproduced: Yes, twice

I am playing on real hardware and was unable to screenshot this bug. The image below is generic and only serves to show the location at which I experienced this issue. I will work on reproducing this issue a third time and filming my TV screen, as well as attempt using the debug mode patch that's available.

I want to add that I love this game so much and cannot thank you enough for all of your hard work!

Are you sure this isn't a burning issue? I'm playing on real hardware and tested multiple patches and never experienced this issue. I'm on disc 2, almost finishing it.

I wish the current release would be in your opening post! Where to

Many cheers Trekkie for your kind work! Also do I worry about this Track 02.wav that I prefer to burn?

EDIT: I see!...

Merry Holidays!!

I'll see if I can reproduce that but it might take some time for me to get a save to that spot.

Thanks for your response. I’m ordering some higher quality CDRs (Taiyo Yuden) and will try again.

I appreciate your responsiveness. Before you go crazy trying to do that, I’m ordering some Taiyo Yuden CDRs and will try to progress past that freeze point again. I’ll report back.
