Newer Lite-On drives are supposed to be pretty good, but on the other hand at least some Plextor models are said to be unable to copy Safedisc 2-protected CDs. This apparently depends both on model and firmware version, but I'm not an expert on these things and there's contradictory info out there.

The only burner I would ever own is a plextor... the IDE plextor burners are every bit as stable as thier famous SCSI ones. I have a Plexwriter 12x and have never had it make a coaster.

Over all everyone seems to agree that Plextor is the best burner to get cause it is reliable. And nearly prefect compatibility. If you have the extra bucks get a Plextor, or Yamaha. Short on cash get the Samsung, despite it anit those ultra name brands those burners are very good, and affordable.
