The music changes are much simplier than they sound. For each level, there are 4 (or is it 5? Can't remember) different tracks. Each track is split in 8 or so segmenets. Depending on the Nightopians' mood the game will pick a different music track for each segment.
This is easier to understand in Christmas NiGHTS once you unlock the Jukebox, that let you arrange the music as you please.

Thanks for that information. I remember the Jukebox now, it was pretty classic!
As for the SEQ player, what I think I will do is this; Panzer Dragoon Zwei has an option in the menu to play these files, so I'll see how that works, if I can find it out. My dis/assembly skills, etc, leave a lot to be desired, though, so only time will tell how well I'll get on!
