I don't know that it's the dumbest movie ever, but it is a real shocker. BTW, I went to the same Uni (NIDA) as the "australian chick". She's actually a really good actress... |

I just watched 'The General' again. Excellent movie. |

What was your issue with it (Battle Royale)? My only problem with it was the translation. It would be much better if you could understand it in it's original language, because on my DVD at least, a lot of the subtitles came off as corny and akward. As I am posting this I just saw something interesting on the news. Some proffesor guy just said that romance movies raise progesterone (sp?) and violent movies raise testoterone in men by 30%. Supposedly you can tell a lot about a person by their DVD collection. |

or Memento |

Hmm, yeah, I love Battle Royale. The second one wasn't nearly as good, but the first was amazing. The concept is just so awesome. Plus, anything with Beat Takeshi in it is usually pretty good. |

Memento is another good one, I forgot to put that on my list. I don't want to see Battle Royale 2, based on what I've heard. It's sad that that was the last movie to have Kinji Fukasaku's name on it. Beat Takeshi Kitano's movies are an aquired taste, but I've loved every one of his movies I've seen: Sonatine, Hana-bi, Zatoichi, I'd recommend all of those. |

ok, well not the dumbest movie ever, but kinda weird. On a much more perverted note, at least you know what she looks like naked! |

Although the idea was interesting, all the computer hacking moment just made me laugh in an uncontrollable way, ruining everything else ... Why every movie talking about computers at one point or another has to to it in a completely unrealistic way ? The end with Kitano's daughter (?) isn't really clear also IMO ... |
Dud | Jul 24, 2004 | ||||
The computers were a little bit cheesy. That wasn't actually in the source material, in the book I don't think they even used computers, but swung a home-made bomb into the control center. Anywho, to try to steer this thread back on topic, does anyone else have any movie suggestions? |

Instead of Office Space, try to find a lesser known but funnier office place comedy called Haiku Tunnel. Chances are, your coworkers haven't seen it. If you want to show off that sound system, try Behind Enemy Lines. Movie itself is decent enough (I'd give it an 7.5 on a scale of 10), but there's a few scenes where a beautiful surround system is a must, where you hear quiet things in the back as the solders come up on him, or the slightest change in the sound of the dirt grinding under his boots as he walks across a mine field, things like that. Cameron's Aliens is a good one, and if anybody is anxious for next month's AvP movie, double it up with the original Predator. |

BR2 isn't bad actually. It also clarifies the bit w/Kitano's daughter. It's just a bit more cheesy than the first and the premise is changed in a way that makes it somewhat less interesting. It's still a pretty cool movie, and the battle scenes are really well done (sometimes you almost think you're watching Saving Private Ryan). |

Better late than never... The movies that we* watched, in screening order: Pirates of the Caribbean... Bullshot... Dogma... and of course The Fifth Element... *I got there at 1am - towards the end of Dogma - only to find that half the people had already left. Damned pikers! *shakes fist* |

Dogma will do that to people. |
