The burner I was referring to isn't out yet, but the review indicated that it wrote different brands of 8X +/- media at 12X fine. It also wrote 2.4X DL discs at 4X speeds. I'm sure you could google and find a review on the DVD+R9 capabilities of the NEC burner you posted.
