yea thank god for censoring certain things on tv but isn't freespeech guaranteed almost everywhere so isn't censoring intruding on our rights to talk. |

Some wierd old law from the 18th century that hasn't been repealed would be pretty funny. |

Georgia's sodomy law... was declared unconstitutional in 1998. Here's... a history of the law and here's... a list of current Georgia sexual offences. |

16-6-18. Fornication. An unmarried person commits the offense of fornication when he voluntarily has sexual intercourse with another person and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished as for a misdemeanor. nice, wonder how many people actually get busted for having non-marital sex in georgia. i guess now that privacy is non-existant in this country the rate'll be on the rise, but still.... just imagine.... cop:"you know it's a crime to get your fuck on in this state if you're not married, but i'm gonna let you get away with a warning this time. because you really seemed like you were having a good time". i guess the real challenge would be to rack up combos, like in a fighting game , fornication, beastiality, distribution of lewd materials>>>3 hit combo chain! guess it'd only be fun is the judge did a mock japanes fighting game anouncer voice during the precedings |

when it comes down to it the us is very conservative. The rating board for movies is totally against sex i mean you can have graphic violence and get an R but if you have a movie like eyes wide shut you get an NC17 makes no sense to me what ever. I blame religion for placing shame on the naked body(that and other things i'm just really not fully into it right now). blah blah blah(saves me time by not placing my argument) censorship is bad porn is bad blah blah blah(lol) those girls gone wild tapes suck(no clue why i mentioned that but they SUCK) |

antime: nice of you to do your research but you haven't answered the question and quite a bit of the material you have found is actually rather outdated. try again. |

This... is the current legislation on sodomy. At some point, changes were proposed that would include the concept of consent, but they were either voted against or removed. In any case, since that law violates the federal constitutional right of privacy you shouldn't be able to be convicted unless you're soliciting or it involves a minor. As for the reason behind the law it seems it's another case of "that's how it's always been". Before independence, most host nations had similar laws which were then kept, mostly because of current moral standards. At least I couldn't find anything more specific. There's lots of other fun things in Georgia legislation, like the semi-famous law forbidding the sale of dildos... (see section c) or the tons of law regulating bingo games. |
