Interesting thing about the price. According to Miyamoto, the WII was suppose to come out at $99.99. But the components drove the drove up. And instead of bleeding loses (ala PS3) Nintendo upped the price.

I think 99$ was not enough for a new gen console except maybe for handheld.
249Euros is a perfect price, it can be compared with the price of 16 bits console at their launch. Since this time, consoles started to be overpriced.
